Kalundewa Retreat

We went their for our honeymoon as the first destination and it was a tremendous experience and we never regretted it for a bit. It was above the moon vibe there and the rooms were spacious and the blended experience with the nature was unspeakable. It was all worth the price for, and the staff was so helpful and friendly at all costs. The food was delicious and healthy picked from the organic farm they have in the premises itself.

We stayed at Kalundewa Retreat for two nights, and it was a really peaceful and beautiful experience. . The environment is incredibly beautiful, with chalets charmingly nestled by the lake. Riding bikes in the morning was amazing, surrounded by all the beauty. I really liked the design of the cottages. You can do Kayaking also. We walked through the green paddy fields, and it was lovely. The retreat is luxurious and calm, great for chilling out. I highly recommend it if you want a quiet escape with nature and fantastic hospitality. While the hotel is calm and relaxing, I want to mention that the plunge pool needs a little cleaning.

A perfect getaway! The Kalundewa Retreat is one of the best places I’ve ever visited in Sri Lanka. This place is situated in a rural area, with 110 acres of land including paddy fields, fruit gardens, herb gardens, lakes, etc. It will take more than a couple of days to fully explore the place. The gardens with fruits hanging from the trees (yes, you can pluck ‘em) and beautiful sceneries. The bird sanctuary with many native and migratory birds, lakes with water monitors and otters, gardens with many butterflies, and many more! The staff is one of the best! They are really nice and friendly, always willing to help. The food is great! They don’t have a buffet, but that’s great. The chef knows how to treat and they have a great range of options. The food is delicious. Loved all the meals. The chalet was amazing! It has a deck on the lake (we stayed at the Attikka chalet - but there are more chalets with great views) from which you can watch the lake where many animals roam around. The night sky is great; there’s literally no light pollution! Definitely worth a visit and we will come back! Lived the whole experience!

If you booked this place by now, trust me you will never regret it. Every minute counts here and please make it memorable. Great place to spend your honeymoon too. You will have the privacy and special preparations for the honeymoon. and I suggest you to stay more than 1 day, since 1 day is not enough to enjoy this place. This place is enormous. You can ride bicycles too. Food is really nice and staff is super friendly. Everyone here is very helpful and kind. I stayed 2 days here and i will go again once i get the chance.

The famers even offered us some fruits also. However, I must share that my dining experiences left me desiring more. The culinary offerings, while decent, did not match the elevated standard set by the rest of the resort. I believe that with some attention and refinement, the dining experience at Kalundewa Retreat could match the exceptional quality of its surroundings. By focusing on improving the food options in the menu and tasty of food items like pizza, fried rice and soup items, has the potential to provide guests with a truly unforgettable and holistic experience.
